- • CHESS
Chess is a kind of board game that is ultimately played by two players. Both two players each have their own set of sixteen pieces. Eight of the pieces are called pawns, two are called rooks or towers, two are called bishops, one is called a queen and last but not the least one is called a king. At the beginning of the game, all of these pieces must be available on the chessboard and must be arrange as in the figure below.
The game is won when the condition or game situation called checked mate is reached. A “checked mate” happens when the opponent’s king is checked and fails to get out of the state no matter where it is moved.
Another important state is called the stalemate, which happens when there is no more legal move left for the opponent to take without endangering the king with a check.
- • SCRABBLE
Scrabble is a board game involving mainly with the use of words. The game can be played by four players at the most and two players at the least. On the board is a fifteen by fifteen grid, wherein the players will put the words they want to form on the grids and the result will more or less appear as that of a crossword puzzle. The individual letters have their own corresponding values. In the end, when no more words are formed, the accumulated values will be computed and which ever among the players have the highest points wins.
The game’s early form was first called Criss-Crosswords.
- • MONOPOLY
Monopoly is one of the board games that have reached international audience. It was published by the Parker Brothers a well-reputed toy and game manufacturer. The game is known to be a game of chance that simulates (or mocks) the basic activities of an active economy. During the game, the players pretend to buy, trade or rent other players’ properties as is it also common in real life. The goal of this game is to subdue the other players making yourself in control of the market.
